Build A Reef International, Incorporated

Build A Reef International Inc. (BRI) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of our coastal and marine environment through the development and use of simple, low-cost and ecologically designed reef enhancement structures or BAR modules. We provide opportunities for local communities, organizations and individuals to be involved in our Build A Reef (BAR) skills training, marine environmental education and awareness campaigns and other marine environmental projects.

Mission and Vision

It is the mission of BRI to promote Build A Reef (BAR) Program as an effective and practical strategy to rehabilitate and improve the condition of degraded or open/barren reef habitats by installing low-cost, ecologically-designed reef habitats or modules and to increase knowledge and skills of stakeholders and local communities on marine conservation and sustainable use of resources.

We envision an enhanced coastal and marine habitats where fishes, corals and other living organisms thrive supporting species biological diversity and population density for present and future generations.

Goal

Regenerate reef habitats on degraded or barren patch reefs by installing a network of BAR modules with the active participation of local communities, organizations and individuals.

Objectives

To foster the use of BAR modules to enhance and support natural species diversity and population density in the regeneration of damaged or open reef habitats
To increase awareness and involvement of stakeholders and coastal communities in marine protection, conservation and rehabilitation of degraded coral reefs through education, BAR skills training, membership and partnership.
